Landoll's Mohican Castle

This past weekend we went to Landoll's Mohican Castle, which is an hour SW from our house. It was built about ten years ago and has been up and running for three years. They have about a dozen suites and are located on 1100 acres. The castle was built from field stones and trees that had fallen on the property. It was pretty chilly while we were there but the sites and hiking were really nice!

Interesting story: There once was a church (and attached cemetery) on the property whose congregation had a fight about what language was to be spoken -- English or German. English became the official language of the church and shortly after the church was burned down. The German members were so upset about the chosen language that they uprooted their ancestors and re-buried them about a mile down the road. Both cemeteries are still there.

There is a nice restaurant on the grounds and we had made reservations for that night. However, once we got there, because it was rainy and cold, we decided to pick up a pizza and have a warm night inside instead. It felt kind of funny being at this beautiful resort and ordering a pizza, but what do you do? When you hear the call of cheese and pepperoni -- you have no choice but to listen and obey! :)

The castle was amazing and it's hard to believe that it's hidden in the hills of Ohio between Columbus and Canton. We had a blast and would recommend it to everyone and anyone! Hope you enjoy the pictures! :)

How fun! And what a beautiful place. How did you find it?

So...it's not just ice cream; it's ice cream and cheese and pepperoni (= pizza)??!!

How are you feeling lately? Well, I hope.

Love, Mom L
