Alex's 6th Birthday

Alexander is six.  SIX YEARS OLD!
It's hard to believe and even though these six years have flown by, we can barely remember life without him.  He is a hilarious kid.  Always moving.  Always jumping.  Always leaping.  Always climbing.  Always asking how things work.  Always taking things apart (sometimes to fix them, and sometimes just curious).  Always wanting to ride his bike, or to go swimming, or to go running, or to go hiking, or to do something physical.  He is a constant source of noise and if you look up "boy" in the dictionary, you would see a picture of Alex.
A co-worker of Nelson's said the definition of a boy is "noise, with dirt on it".  That is Alex!

And even though some of these quality traits can get frustrating at times, Alex is the sweetest and most loving little boy I have ever met.  He adores his sister and he would do anything for her!  He loves spending time with his dad, either working on the car or rough-housing.  And as his day comes to an end, there is nothing he wants more than to snuggle with his mom.  He is extremely generous and he regularly gives his allowance to help those who don't have as much as he does.  He has a contagious giggle that can put a smile on anyone's face.

Alex, you are a gift to us all and we are so blessed to have you as our son.  Happy Birthday, Buddy!

Alex asked for homemade pop-tarts for breakfast (just like Emily)!

For lunch, Alex wanted turkey and cheese wraps with ranch, potato chips, dried kiwi, and watermelon.

His very own discs for disc-golf!!  :)

More books about a boy named Alexander!  :)

Alex wanted a dirt-cake for his birthday cake this year.  Part of me was sad because there was nothing to decorate and design.  But after thinking it over, it seemed fitting for a six year old boy who is constantly covered in dirt and sweat, to have a dirt cake for his birthday.  :)
Plus, we had a little birthday celebration for Brennan and Alex later in the summer and I got to decorate a robot cake then.  The boys loved it!  :)

 YUMMMMMMM!

Alex got a soda-can robot and was pretending the robot eyes were his!!  :)
