Football Hall of Fame, Blueberry Picking, and some more Summer Fun

We went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame parade for the first time.  Nelson got free tickets from work and we thought it was something we should probably do at least once.  It was a fun morning, followed up with blueberry picking and lunch at DairyQueen.  It was a big day!!  :)

Well, blueberry picking was as productive as strawberry picking for Alex.  He was done about 15 minutes into it and then wanted to go home.  Maybe next year will be better?!  :)

Alex got a sucker with a scorpion in it while we were on vacation.
He finally built up enough nerve to try it and he said it was tasty.  Although half way through the sucker, he said he was full and threw it away.  I've never seen him throw away candy before, so I'm pretty sure that had something to do with the scorpion!  :)

 Playing in the rain!

We just loved the fact that Emily was so excited to go for a bike ride that she wore her helmet in the car!  We really are responsible drivers!!  :)
But that excitement ended when she realized that we were going to make her ride a bike too!  She was so afraid of riding that Nelson rented this bike for them to use together.  She LOVED it and has been riding her own bike ever since!  Wish we would have tried this years ago!  :)

And yes, this is me on a bike!  I couldn't expect Emily to ride if I wouldn't, so Nelson bought me a bike and now we're a riding family!!  :)
Our church's 80th Birthday was this summer, so we had a huge picnic with hotdogs, slushies, face painting and a balloon artist.  It was an extremely HOT day, but it was a lot of fun!!  :)
And of course we had friends over during the summer!!  :)

The weather this summer wasn't fantastic, so on one of the rainy days I made a "laser-field" for the kids to maneuver through.  They had a great time and Alex couldn't wait to karate chop down the streamers!  :)

And of course we ate even more ice cream... but who can say no to SweetFrog?!  :)

It's starting to become a tradition that after the Girls/Boys Weekend, Nelson sets up the tent in the backyard so that he and Emily can go "camping" too.  She had a great time and Nelson said he managed to sleep ok, so we'll chalk that up as a win!!  :)
