Halloween & Pumpkin Carving

I was able to be a part of Alex's Kindergarten Autumn Class Party.  I volunteered to carve pumpkins, not entirely thinking it through.  A class of 5 & 6 year olds - knives for carving - always a lack of parent participation which equals poor supervision - did I mention the knives for carving --- oh man!  Despite my fear and trepidation, I had a wonderful time and the kids were great!  And no one lost any limbs -- or at least not their dominant ones.  Just kidding!  :)

Alex seems to be very well-loved and a favorite amongst the girls - quite the little sweet-talker from what we've heard!

He loved the pumpkin-themed foods so much that he had to cover his mouth so that the huge bite he had taken wouldn't fall out of his mouth!  What a gentleman!  ;)
We were "Boo-ed" this year!  Someone left a trick or treat bucket on our doorstep with candy in it and instructions to "Boo" another neighbor.  It was so much fun and the kids LOVED sneaking up onto our neighbors porch to drop off the basket of goodies.
This year for Halloween Emily dressed up as a butterfly and Alex was Yoda from Star Wars.  I couldn't find a decent Yoda costume or hat for Alex so he wore the Luke Skywalker costume we already had and then I knit him the Yoda hat.  He was so stinking cute!  And Emily started off as a butterfly but then half way through trick or treating decided she was a fairy.  She was adorable both ways!  And of course the Build-a-bears had matching costumes so they tagged along with us as well!  It was a beautifully warm day (mid-60s) and we had a really nice time together!  It was the first year that they both wanted to go through the entire neighborhood and we're getting tired after a few houses.  It might have helped that it was so nice outside, but it was fun to watch them run up to the houses and yell "Trick or Treat"!  :)
