Sixth Prenatal Visit and First ChildBirth Class

Yesterday was our sixth prenatal visit and everything went well. They tested my blood sugar levels for gestational diabetes and any other problems. I should have the results back this week but they're not concerned. Judy also scheduled another ultrasound for our next visit (in two weeks) to check fluids and to confirm the due date. Nothing to be worried about -- just a reason to have an ultrasound!! :)

Last night was also our first night of ChildBirth Classes. They are every Monday night for the next month. There are five other couples in the class with us -- most of them due within days of us! Everyone seems really nice and outgoing and it should be a fun group. The class itself was informative and graphic. Let's just say that none of us were real interested in seeing the details of our own child being born -- not to mention someone else's on video. And the real good news is that we get to see it in the next two classes too (one woman without medication and one with)! But the last class is a tour of the delivery and maternity ward so that will be fun -- and something to look forward to over the next two weeks. :) I was just pleased that Nelson didn't pass out during the video -- maybe he'll be ok when our turn comes up?! Everyone keep your fingers crossed!!! :)

As far as everything else, we are doing great. The baby is kicking everyday now and is getting stronger and stronger. She's really enjoying kicking my organs and back -- which feels real great for mom, let me tell you! :) And my belly is moving now everytime she moves, so that's been really weird to see!

We registered at Babies 'R Us this past weekend. That was an experience!! Nelson and I had no idea what we were doing and I'm sure it was a source of entertainment for everyone around us as we tried to get strollers to fold-up and contemplate which floor gym was right for us and the baby! This all took a while as there are way too many options out there -- is there anything that doesn't play music, rock, vibrate or have frills -- we couldn't find much!! ;) Either way, it was a lot of fun and we learned a lot! :)

Dad is mostly finished with the crib now and I thought ya'll would like to see a new picture -- pretty amazing, huh?! He's quite the talented guy and we're so excited to see it in person! :)

Well, that's about it. My prenatal visits are every two weeks now so you'll be hearing more from me. Like I said earlier, I'm still feeling really well and have very few complaints! God has been really good to us during this whole pregnancy!

So, until next time . . .

Just some updates!

I thought you all might like to see and hear some updates on what is going on over here. The baby is kicking all the time now and we even got to see her kick last week! That was a surprise as I didn't realize it would happen this soon, but I guess I am 7 mos along! :)

As some of you know, my dad is making the crib for us. He is quite the woodworker, as you can see (this is the back of the crib)! This crib will transition into a toddler bed and then into a full size bed -- and I'm sure it will be a family treasure!

We were in Alabama last week visiting our best friends, Ben & Laura. We had a great time seeing them again and while we were there, I knit my first sweater -- for the baby! I have been knitting for about a year but have never tried anything from a pattern. I am quite pleased with my handy-work and thought you'd all like to see "Razzy's" first home-made sweater! :)

D-Day (due date) is quickly approaching and we are trying to get everything settled up here before then. The rental house is coming along and we are hoping to have it finished by end of April! :) My next appointment is on Monday and this will start the cycle of appointments every two weeks. Our birthing classes start Monday night as well and will go through mid-March.

That's about it for us -- at least until Monday's update on our appointment! Until then . . .
