Emily's First Sandwich!

She just devoured this raspberry jam and butter sandwich! And she ate it with both hands and took bites off the edges -- just like a big kid. Except that she ate all her crust! What a good girl!

Some great pictures!

This is of Emily after church on Sunday. As most of you know, she only likes to sleep in her bed -- no one's arms, not the carseat, no where! But she was so tired after drinking her bottle that she just fell fast asleep in Nelson's arms. Sweet, huh?!

Emily's Neurodevelopmental Appointment

We just got back from Emily's neurodevelopmental appointment. Dr Duby (the specialist) examined her for about an hour and asked us a ton of questions. He seemed to be very thorough and was great with Emily! He said that it looks like she's right on target for her age. He said her reasoning and fine motor skills are above average but she might be a little behind with her vocal development ("at a 10 mos old level") -- but there is nothing to be concerned about -- not far enough behind to even mention, he said! He did say that her "chop-stick" method of picking things up with her 2nd & 3rd finger is strange but nothing to be concerned about either. She is using her thumb and functioning fine -- she just prefers the "asian method" more than her thumb. Silly girl! ;)

He did comment that her gross motor skills are a little behind ("at a 7-8 mos old level"). He gave us some exercises to do with her and said that we can even to go physical therapy if we want. He did stress that crawling and walking varies from child to child and she just might be a "late-bloomer". He said there is absolutely nothing to be worried about and whatever we decide to do, she will be just fine.

So, the appointment went well and the outcome was pretty much what we were expecting. We're planning to call Dr. Joyce this week and get her advice on the therapy and see what she thinks we should do. I think we will probably go to therapy -- at least hear what they have to say and see how things go. Overall, we're pleased to hear that Emily is just fine and that there is nothing more serious going on. So, good news! :)

We'll keep you posted on what we decide for our next steps. Thank you all for your prayers and support -- again, God takes care of us! :)

Emily's First Boo-Boo

Well, Emily thought she would try to fly this morning -- right off her changing table/dresser. I was getting her dressed for the day and looked away for a split-second and the next thing I knew, she was falling off the dresser and hit her forehead on an open drawer. She immediately started screaming and I ran downstairs to call Nelson (he was already at work). She had a crease in her forehead from the drawer and her nose was a little bloody and carpet-burned. She was freaking out and I was freaking out -- it was not a pretty sight! But by the time Nelson got home (about 10 minutes later), Emily was smiling and wanting to play with her dad! I, on the other hand, was still a basketcase. We called the drs office and they confirmed that we needed to go to the ER. We spent the morning at the ER having Emily examined. The radiologist said the CAT scan was normal and there was nothing wrong with her but some superficial swelling and scraping. Praise God for His protection!

Emily still has quite the bump on her forehead and her nose is still red. Otherwise, she has been her normal chatty-self all day and doesn't seem phased by this morning's events. I on the other hand am still a little jumpy but I'm so greatful that she's ok. What a day!

Pictures

Here are some more pictures from over the last few weeks. I know I've not posted many of Emily or our guests. Hope you enjoy! :)

Also, I took Emily back to the drs office today. She is working on two of her molars and is still sick. So, Dr. Joyce said it looks like the RSV and ear infections are completely gone but she might still have a slight sinus infection. So, we're trying another week of antibiotics and we'll see how she is afterwards. And for some good news, we weighed her and she's up to 18 lbs! Only 4 more lbs and she can be front facing in her carseat!! :)

And I don't think I've mentioned it before, but we have scheduled an appointment for Emily to see a developmental specialist on the morning of April 24th. She still isn't crawling or walking and doesn't seem to be making any strides to try either. Dr. Joyce said she doesn't think there's anything to be concerned about, but we might want to talk to this specialist just to be sure (similar to her heart murmur check-up). Anyway, just wanted all of you to know and be praying for her during that exam. We'll keep you posted if anything should arise.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! :)

Happy Easter!

Last Thursday we drove down to West Virginia to see Laura's family and stayed there through this afternoon. We had a great time seeing everyone and sharing Emily's first Easter. It was quite chilly (around 30-40 degrees) but Emily sported her Easter dress and matching bonnet like a lady! She even got to participate in her first tea party! She ate a whole lavender scone and loved it! :)

Emily's New Room!

Laura and I finished Emily's room yesterday and we have to say, it turned out quite nice! The room is much bigger than her previous one, so we had much more to do in it. Emily was pretty stunned to see it when she woke up from her nap and I think she was pretty pleased! :)
