More Christmas Pictures

A Bunch of Firsts!

Well, we are back from Orlando. Emily did really well while flying. She got a little fussy but just because she was tired and there wasn't much to do on the plane. And her ears didn't bother her at all (of course that might have been because we were feeding her during take-off & landing). Overall, she flew very well! :)

Her first Christmas was a little confusing for her. She would open one gift and want to play with it -- naturally. Well, we would take it away from her so that she could open another gift and she didn't quite understand this concept. She didn't fuss at all but was a tad confused. But she had a great time playing with all her new toys and hearing her new stories read to her. Curt & Tracie have recently gotten a dog (that looks very similar to Nora) and Emily enjoyed "playing" with her as well! :)

We had a great time with my family and it was nice to be together for the holidays. Tomorrow we are driving out to DC & Baltimore and spending the New Year with some college friends -- it will be nice to see all of them again!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a very safe New Year!

Early Christmas Presents

We opened some early Christmas presents last night before we leave for Orlando. Emily wasn't real clear on what was going on but loved how Nora tried to eat the wrapping paper and ribbon. She got a collection of flower-fairy books, some very soft and cozy socks and her very first piggy-bank. She loved the sound of the rhyming stories, the feel of the socks and the sound of the change in her piggy-bank. Thought you'd like to see her opening her first gifts! :)

Have a Merry Christmas!

7 Months Old!

The time just seems to be going by faster and faster. I can't believe Emily is 7 months old already -- where has the time gone? I know we keep saying this, but she really is so amazing! She is simply fascinated by her fingers and toes. So fascinated that when she picks up toys to play with, she gets distracted by her fingers and drops the toy -- completely forgetting there was even a toy to begin with! But despite her short attention span, her dog keeps her entertained. I wish you could all hear her squeal with joy as Nora walks into a room or runs past. She thinks Nora is the neatest thing ever -- they are just destined to be good friends!

Emily is still not rolling over or crawling much -- but she does put all of her weight on her legs while standing. I even had her standing by herself last week for a few seconds! Maybe she'll be like my sister and just walk at a very early age -- guess we'll just have to wait and see!

We went to a Christmas program at our old church this evening and got to see a lot of great friends! We took advantage of the evening and took a few Christmas pictures -- hope you enjoy them! We are heading out to Orlando for Christmas (to see my sister, her husband and my parents) and then going to Baltimore for New Years (getting together with a group of college friends). We'll try to post while we're on vacation -- I know you all want to see Emily's first Christmas. But I do hope you have a wonderful week and a very Merry Christmas! :)

Who Would Have Guessed It?!

Emily just LOVES broccoli! She gobbled it up like it was mashed bananas -- who would have guessed it?!

I love my doggie!

Nelson was popping some pillow packing (plastic packaging material filled with air) and getting Nora all riled up. Nora was jumping around and barking at Nelson and being her usual loud self. Well Emily thought it was hilarious and was squealing and laughing louder than we've ever heard her laugh. Wish you were all here to have heard and seen it -- it was adorable! :)

I'm not so sure about peas!

This was Emily's first time with peas and it didn't go real well. As you can see, she was trying to twist and turn as far away from them as possible. But we finished up with applesauce and everything was right with the world -- and as you can see, Nora has quickly learned to pick up any food that is dropped from the highchair. She tries to bypass the dropping action and go straight for Emily's face. This is an act we are strongly trying to discourage but Emily finds if pretty funny! :)

6 Month Check-Up

Emily had her six month check-up today (it was delayed b/c of the spacing of her shots). She screamed through all four shots (one can't blame her) but she was fine shortly after. She still isn't gaining a lot of weight but is growing like a weed. She now weighs 14 lbs 3 ozs and is 26.5" long. Dr. Joyce gave us the "go-ahead" for giving her vegetables along with her cereal & fruit -- so we'll keep you posted on how that goes.

Also, I do apologize for the lack of pictures lately. We seem to have lost our camera charger and are waiting for our newly-purchased one to arrive. Once we get that and the camera is no longer dead, we will give all of you an Emily-fix! :)

Until then I hope you enjoy these pictures -- isn't she cute with her daddy and her doggie?! :)
