Grandma & Grandpa
Nelson's parents were in town this weekend so we went to the Football Hall of Fame Balloon Festival. We left the house around 7AM and I think it was a little early for Alex (in case you can't tell, he's yawning in this picture). But it wasn't too early for Emily -- she had a blast! She kept asking for more balloons even though there were over 70 there! She was pretty cute!! :)

4 Weeks Old
Alex is 4 weeks old today -- hard to believe, isn't it? He is such a wonderful little boy and adjusting well to our chaotic home! He sleeps right through Emily touching him or screaming/running around him . . . And Emily sleeps through him screaming at night (for the most part). :)
He is sleeping well at night and has started going 6 hours at a time -- but still insists on an early wake-up (such as 4-5AM). Not too bad though, considering there's been 6 hours of sleep before that! :)
He's a great eater and very efficient -- usually done within 10 minutes. (Much better than Emily's 45-60 minute feedings!) He has had a pretty bad case of baby acne but it's starting to clear up -- for a while the poor little thing looked like a teenager going through puberty! :}
So, we're all doing well and just can't imagine life without "brover Ai" ("brother Alex" for those of you who don't speak "Emily"). :)

Big Sister & Little Brother
Here are a few pictures of Alex from this week. He's sleeping much better now that we have him on his belly at night and he's only waking up a few times in a 10-12 hr period -- much better than being up every 1-2 hours like before!! :)
Emily is just loving her little brother and keeps checking on him when he's sleeping in the bassinet in the office. She's still a good little helper and loves taking care of him. :)
Emily's cast comes off in another week and we're quite excited for that to be over and done with! She's been a real trooper through all of this and it hasn't seemed to have slowed her down at all. Luckily she favored her left hand before this and as a result hasn't been hindered by too much. The really great thing of it all is that she has mastered eating with silverware and is much cleaner at the dinner table -- yeah!!! :)

My New Cast!
After Nelson took Emily to the ER this week, they referred us to an orthopedic doctor to have him examine her arm and check on it's progress. Well, Emily kept taking off her splint this week (we would get her up from her naps and she would have it off and say "off" -- as if it had just miraculously fallen off)! So, they casted it yesterday. They put it on above her elbow so that she couldn't slip out of this too. She was not so cooperative and screamed through the whole procedure. Needless to say, I was in tears! Good thing Nelson was there -- he was a rock! :)
The cast will stay on for 3 weeks and then they should be able to take it off and the wrist will be healed . . . just in time for the Lewis Family Reunion this summer!
Emily is doing fine and this doesn't seem to have limited her ability to do anything. So, all is well! :)

What A Day Yesterday!
Well, yesterday was a traumatic day. Emily was walking down the stairs and after stepping down onto the first step at the top, fell all the way down. She was pretty upset but went back to play a few minutes later. She kept saying that her arm hurt but she would use it and didn't seem to be too hindered by it. We put her to bed and around 10:30 she woke-up screaming, saying her arm hurt. So, I stayed here with Alex and Nelson took Emily to the ER. They found out that she had a compression fracture in two of her bones in her wrist and they put her in a splint. She'll have to wear this for 4-6 weeks, but as you can see from these pictures -- she is just as happy as usual. She's not in any pain and seems to be doing fine. She's more concerned about her "owies" on her knees that she got last week while on her bike. So, nothing to be too concerned about, but we thought we would let you know!

Alex's "Train" Room
Here are some pictures from Alex's room. The quilt was made by my Aunt Faith and my mom. (You might remember that my Aunt Faith made a quilt for Emily when she was born.) The quilt is perfect for the room and they did a beautiful job! Let's just hope that Alex likes trains as much as Emily has loved her butterflies! :)
I love my brother!
I forgot the other day to list Alex's weight from his 1 week check-up. Alex was 7 lbs 1 oz when he was born and 6 lbs 12 ozs when we left the hospital. At his 1 wk check-up he was 6 lbs 14 ozs -- yeah! :)
Emily is doing really great with Alex and keeps asking where "brover Ai" or "bebe Ai" is when he's sleeping or in his swing. She's quite the little helper already -- trying to give him his pacifier or bringing me burp cloths. And she's in love with his blankets (although she's having a hard time realizing that they're Alex's and not her's -- she keeps saying "mine"). :)
My parents left for home today and we were sad to see them go -- they were a HUGE help and they really eased the transition for all of us! Thank you guys! :)

One Week Check-up
Alex had his one week check-up yesterday and everything seems to be perfect. His bilirubin count has gone down (it was 8 at the hospital, 14 on Saturday, 13 on Monday and now 12 today). Dr. Joyce isn't concerned about that since it's going down and we are scheduled for a one month check-up in August.
He is sleeping well for us and eating about every 2-3 hours. Last night he was up for a while but he let me sleep until 8AM this morning, so that was greatly appreciated! :)
Emily is doing amazingly well with Alex. She is quite the "little mother" with him and keeps bringing him burp cloths and pacifiers. She's fairly gentle with him and is very curious when he's crying. She calls him "Ai" and says he is "mine". I couldn't ask for a better girl!! :)
