Happy Thanksgiving

We went to Brad & Katie's for Thanksgiving and had a great weekend!  Emily and Alex had a wonderful time with Uncle Brad and were completely fascinated with Movember.  Brad and Katie were real troopers with the kids and even had activities and crafts planned for them.  We felt so at home and it was a very relaxing time -- we can't wait to go back!  :)

A wonderful Thanksgiving lunch with friends and family!

 Turkey - YUMMMM!  :)

We took a lot of walks with the kids in an attempt to get them out of Brad & Katie's beautiful home and to prevent them from bouncing off the walls.  It was a bit frigid but we had a good time.  Alex even found a curved stick that he then turned into a bow.  This was perfect for him as there were loads of deer that he wanted to shoot and then "roast".  What a crazy kid!  :)

This is Nelson and Alex chasing after some "deers".  Alex was really hoping to catch one!

Brad planned this great craft for him and the kids to do - pine cone gnomes.  It was so much fun and we will always remember them when we put them on the tree (or when we need a lint brush because of the gnomes shedding beard)!  :)

The three boys in their hats!  :)
Alex has really attached himself to Uncle Brad and he insisted on growing his own mustache.  But when he figured out that it was going to be much harder to do that at the age of five, he improvised and used an orange peel.  :)

For over a year now, Alex has wanted to join the Army and be a firefighter.  That was until Thanksgiving when he found out that Uncle Brad was in the Air Force.  Now Alex wants to be in the Air Force and fly jets - just like Uncle Brad!!  Aaaawwww!!!  :)
Alex even got to try on Uncle Brad's helmet and Brad's grandfathers' jacket - aren't they so cute!  :)

Emily was so excited that we were going to Brad & Katie's.  She even wanted to bring her flowergirl dress to wear for them again!  :)  Brad and Katie have a very special place in the hearts of my children - thank you guys for loving them so much!!

Thanks again for having us at your house!  We love The Eagle & Thistle!!  :)

Goofy Kids

Nelson added a border around the playground this summer and before he could install it, we found Alex pounding one of the stakes into the yard.  He is so curious!
We found Alex "reading" the story of David & Goliath one night in bed.  He LOVES his Action-Comic-Book Bible and this story is one of his absolute favorites - he can recite it from memory!  :)
 Picture Day at school.
Alex has really taken to school and loves his sight words, sounding out words and writing new things.  We found him in the living room one day writing the number six.  So, I wrote out 1-6 and he copied it to the side.  He was so proud of himself - what a smart boy!!

The kids were home one day with the flu, but ended up feeling fine by 10am.  They spent the day making Rainbow Loom bracelets and then decided to try to sell them in the driveway to whomever passed by.  They were thoroughly disappointed when they realized that it was in the middle of the day and everyone was either at work or school.  But despite not selling a single thing, they had a great time making the bracelets and hanging out in the driveway!  :)

The fire department came to visit the Kindergarteners and they all made FireDog Dalmatian hats to wear during the visit.  How cute is that?!

Despite how much they fight and annoy each other, they love each other more than anyone else.  Alex calls Emily his "BFF" and it's so sweet to see how they care for each other!

Fall Bonfire

In an effort to cleanup the debris after a storm, we collected all the sticks and branches that had fallen off the trees and built a bonfire - complete with roasted marshmallows.  It was yummy!

And the following day the kids asked that Nelson dump the mulched leaves into a pile so they could jump in it.  They quickly gave up on the jumping and just layed in the pile, letting Nelson pile more and more leaves on top of them.  :)
