House Pictures

Good Morning, all! It's been a very busy week with lots of company and fun times! Nelson's parents were here for a while and it was nice to spend some time with them! They had a great time with Emily and it was fun to see them play together! Laura has been here for over a week and we're having a blast! Ben was down last weekend and is back this weekend w/Ben Carpenter as well. We're planning to go see a movie this afternoon and just hang out the rest of the time. It's been a lot of fun having everyone here and we're really enjoying the house!

Laura and I worked on painting the dining room and Emily's room this week. The dining room was a sage green with a creamy color on top. We changed it to a warm chocolate on top with a taupey bottom and chocolate molding accents. We are very pleased with the outcome and it looks great with my pottery! We still have to paint the "mural" in the nursery but it's coming along nicely.

Here are some more pictures of the house -- it's starting to feel more and more like home! And we'd love for all of you to come visit us sometime soon so that you can see it! :)

Just some more pictures from last week . . .

Doctor's Visit

We went to the doctor's office yesterday and unfortunately Emily does have a double ear infection. She also has a mild case of RSV (a respiratory virus). She's on some medicine and should be doing better here in a few days. Dr Joyce said there's nothing to be concerned about with the RSV but just to keep an eye on things to make sure it doesn't get any worse. We'll keep you posted if anything changes. :)

10 Months Old

That's right -- Emily turned 10 months old over the weekend. Life has been pretty crazy over here and we just haven't had the chance to blog. Last week was really hard for all of us and it is still hard to adjust to life without Nora. We still expect to see her in the morning or when we come home. She was a sweet dog and we'll miss her for a long time!

Emily is adjusting well to her new surroundings and really loving her latest gift from "Papa & Mimi" -- a Johnny-Jump-Up! We even had some nice enough weather to get outside and use her new swing-set. She loved it!! Unfortunately, she's gotten sick again and we have another appointment with the doctor today. I'm suspecting another ear infection, but I'll keep you posted.

The house is really starting to come along. Last week we mostly got unpacked and organized. We painted the guest bathroom, patched nail holes, and installed new pantry drawers, among many other things. Laura is coming up for a while and with her help, I'm hoping to start working on Emily's room next week. We will have to paint the other 3 bedrooms eventually and then we should be done. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's nothing compared to the house before! And we're loving the difference!! :)

Here are a few pictures -- thought you might like to see how things are coming along! The purple room will be Emily's once we finish painting and decorating it. Right now we're trying to patch the holes and sand everything down. The bathroom was a minty color but is now taupe with red accents -- it looks really sharp! :)

Nora Update

We had a bit of an incident last week with Nora charging an elderly neighbor. She didn't attack her or do anything to her, but I was very afraid she would. We called the vet and he agreed with us that she needs to be put down. So, we scheduled the appointment for tomorrow afternoon while my parents and sister are here -- the more moral support the better! It will be a very hard day and an extremely quiet house without her. She will be greatly missed!

All Moved In!

We moved into our new house over the weekend and everything went very smoothly! We had a ton of family and friends help us and we will be eternally grateful to all of you! :)

Weight Check

We went to Dr. Joyce's today to have Emily weighed again. She's now up to 16 lbs and 6 ozs -- pretty impressive weight gain, I would say! So, we'll keep monitoring it but she's doing great! :)

SOLD!

You've got it! Yesterday we signed the papers for both houses and are now officially owners of 7727 Chatham Ave NW! We get the keys on Monday sometime and are very excited to finally get moving into our new home! :)

We're planning to move some boxes over this week and then the furniture and everything else remaining on Saturday. We have some great friends and family helping us with the daunting task but it will all be worth it when we're sleeping over there next weekend! :)

Another House Update

Well, as you might remember, we were supposed to have closed on both of our houses this week. It turns out that the buyers of our home still have not been approved for their "First-Time-Home-Buyers" program. They were late submitting their paperwork and everything has been severely delayed because of this. And now this has created a chain-reaction with closing on the other house. So, we're just waiting to hear about their approval so that we can then proceed scheduling both closings.

We'll keep you posted . . .
