First Trip to Church

That's right, we went to church today. Alex has been sleeping 2-3 hours at a time the last two nights and I felt up to seeing all our friends. So, we ventured out as a family. Alex slept through ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship -- Sunday School basically) and was a big hit with everyone we saw! Who could be suprised at that, right?! :)
We're all doing well and adjusting to having a new member of the family. Emily has done surprisingly well and has started giving kisses to her brother's head -- it's pretty cute to see!
I'm feeling remarkably well considering I gave birth on Wednesday and had a tubal on Thursday. The recovery from Alex has been 100 times better than that of Emily's birth and I praise God for that! :)
My parents are still here and will probably be here through the holiday weekend -- we couldn't be more greatful for their help! :)
I'll try to post more pictures tomorrow, so until then . . .

Visitors

We had a couple of visitors here yesterday. Heather didn't want to give him up.

Lydia, Laura's little girl, was very excited to hold the little baby. She was running all over the room until it was time for her turn. Then she was very calm and very gentle.

Tina also came and visited us, but unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures.

Visitors

Jenn's parents hopped in the car in Wisconsin when we headed to the hospital. They arrived 9 hours before Alex was born. Here are a few pictures of them with the little squirt!

Emily isn't quite sure what to make of all of this. We'll see how that changes when he actually comes home with us!

He is here!

Alexander Jack Lewis was born at 11:38 this morning. He weighs 7 lbs and 1 oz and is 20 inches long. Mom and baby are doing well. He's got a full head of hair and looks like his big sister.
Nelson & Jenn

Good Morning!

Well, we're still here in the hospital. The night was long, but we both managed to get a few hours of sleep. Jenn has the epidural in and is at 4 cm, so we still have a little ways to go.

Sorry this isn't too much of an update, but I thought some of you might like to hear something even if it wasn't all that much.

On To Inducement

Hello everyone!

Well, we're still at the hospital. They've checked the amniotic fluid levels, which were around 4.5. I believe that above 10 is normal. So, we are now in the process of being induced. We'll send another update when he's here!

To The Hospital We Go . . .

. . . I had my 38 Week Check-up this morning and they were concerned about Alexander's heart rate (it was a little low), so they did a non-stress test. This came back normal, but when they did the bio-physical ultrasound (I'm pretty sure that's what it was), they found that his amniotic fluids were low as well. So, they are sending us to the hospital right now for a more detailed exam/review. If the results come back as they did this morning, they will induce me immediately. It doesn't sound like there's anything to be super-worried about, they just don't want me to wait any longer if these numbers stay low.

We'll keep you posted on anything that happens and your prayers are greatly appreciated!! :)

Jenn's Birthday

As some of you know, today is my birthday. Well it's also a beautiful day, so we took a trip up to the Akron Zoo. Emily loved seeing the animals but especially loved the turtles and the bears. :)

And for my birthday, Nelson bought me a hammock for the backyard -- so I took a nap outside this afternoon. It was heavenly! :)

And for tonight, I believe we are off to Cold Stone (instead of having a birthday cake, I opted for ice cream) and then home to probably watch one of my new Cary Grant movies (I got a collection from Ben & Laura -- thanks guys)! Overall, a wonderful day! :)

This Week's Check-Up

I had my weekly check-up this morning and everything is as it should be. Alexander has dropped (which I've noticed w/my latest ease of breathing at night) but no efacing or dilating as of yet. I have another appt next Tuesday, so hopefully I'll have more info then! :)

Here is a picture of my latest project -- a sweater for Alex. As most of you know, I knit one very similar for Emily when I was pregnant with her. I thought I would carry on the "tradition". :)

Play-Doh

Emily still isn't sure what do with play-doh, so I gave her a fork to make impressions in it. She loved the flower and butterfly I made and then I gave her a fork to make impressions in the play-doh. She had a lot more fun then!! :)

37 Week Check-Up & Pregnancy Update

Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything (especially a belly-shot . . . I just keep forgetting). Poor Alex -- already suffering from "second-child-neglect". :(

I had my check-up today and everything looks good. Still no progression, so they have me coming in again next week. As some of you know, my OB recommended a few weeks ago that I have a C-section. Nelson and I gave this a lot of thought and prayer and have decided to not proceed down that road. My OB said today that they have changed their policy and will not induce until at least 39 weeks. So, I have at least 2 more weeks to go. I'm pretty uncomfortable and swollen, so let's hope this little guy wants to come early!! :)
That's about it for now -- I'll keep you posted! :)
